Creating the World

The world we live in, with all of its devastating, anxiety-inducing and depressing problems is not here by happenstance. The society that you live in, every society that exists, WAS MADE.

The world we live in, with all of its devastating, anxiety-inducing and depressing problems is not here by happenstance.

The society that you live in, every society that exists, WAS MADE. All of what you see is creation and most of it is the creation of men with incredible egos, immense privilege, and an astoundingly limited imagination.

But what if you could create the world?
Like a painter on a canvas?
What would it look like?
What would it feel like?
What would it taste like?

How would it differ from the world that you live in and what would you choose to keep the same?

As a woman, a black person, and an immigrant, I think about how often my people get stuck in survival mode and never get the opportunity to be creative - to make the world. And that is why I founded the Feminist Idea Lab, to give girls and young women from all walks of life the opportunity to create the world, to bring their visions for a more beautiful vibrant existence to life.

The Feminist Idea Lab is an uninhibited and unlimited space where young women and girls can get seed funding to develop an idea with the support of a loving community.

This is a space where they can ideate and imagine a new world, a better world, for themselves and for the rest of us, and start planting the seeds to make that world real.

In times like these, when our communities are under siege, it’s easy to get caught in fight or flight with little space to dream and imagine something different. But what if we dared?

Would we be more free?
Could we walk in the street at night without fear?
Could we dance, drink wine, and fall asleep in flower fields?
Safe, calm, uninhibited?

I think so. That’s the world I’m after and I can feel it’s within grasp. We just have to build it together. Join us.
